Prologue

Everyone knows the unwritten and unspoken law of the valley. The law that only a human can love a human and an anima can only love an anima.

(The animas were a race of animal humanoids. Their appearance was that of animals, but they could walk, talk, and lived like humans.)

Once long ago, it was different. There was a time when humans and animas lived together peacefully in the valley. There was no fighting, no racism, just happiness.  The valley flourished because humans and animas worked as one for the good of the valley. Then something horrid happen that would change the valley for the worst.

(There are only four main towns in the valley. The four town names are Summerhold (North town), Winterrock (South town), Fallhollow (East town), and Springhaven (West town). The four towns were named after the seasons of the valley.)

On a cold starless night in the town of Springhaven, a young anima girl no older than eighteen was found bloody and beaten in an alleyway by a town guardian.

(The guardians are the police forces that are stationed in the four towns of the valley.)

The young girl was rushed to the only doctor in the town. The doctor did all she could do, but the results showed no signs of the girl getting better. The guardian tried to question the girl to see what she remembered. Even though she tried, every time she did she could not say two words before her body would start to shake and tears would fall from her eyes. Before the guardian left the room she asked him if he would get her diary from her home. Seeing the poor state the girl was in, the guardian could not say no.  Within the hour, the guardian was back with the requested item. As the guardian left, the girl weakly said, "Thank you".

Days had passed since the brutal attack on the girl and the peace of the valley was falling apart. The seeds of rumor were spreading as fast as the wind across the valley. At first, you would only hear about it through whispers, gossip, and the drunks at the taverns. Then the one thing that would lead the people of the valley to bloodshed happened.

When the doctor went to check on the girl ever thing looked fine. The young girl was just lying in bed sleeping. The only thing was she was not sleeping. When the doctor got closer she saw that the girl was not breathing. The doctor tried to revive the motionless body, but it was no use. She had succumbed to injuries of her attacker in her sleep.

She was gone.

The next day she was given a proper funeral. She was laid to rest in the town's cemetery. On her grave marker was written this-

                              -Here lies Starla -
-May she find peace and happiness in the next life-

The next day, the guardian who had found and carried the girl to the doctor's had come to help pack up the items of the young girl. It would not take long though. There were only a few articles of clothing and a couple of books. When he was sorting through the books he did notices something was off. Then it hit him, the diary was gone! He searched the room to no avail. The guardian gave in after a good hour had past.

The diary would be lost to the sands of time.

Days had passed since the girl's funeral and the flames of anger were about to rage. The attacker was never found and the animas of the valley wanted someone to blame for the young anima girl's death. The fates would have it, the animas started to blame the humans! They accused them of wanting to get rid of the animas so they could have the valley for themselves. The humans tried to tell the animas that it was not true. It was no use. The animas were deaf to the human's words because of the anger that grew in their hearts. Soon enough, anger started to burn in the hearts of the humans. They grew tired of being accused of something that was not true. Soon the valley would be flooded with the anger of the people who called it home.

Day after day, fights would occur across the valley. To keep the valley from becoming a valley of blood, the elders of the four towns held a meeting to discuss the action they would take to keep it from happening. The meeting lasted for three weeks. On the last day of the third week, a decision was made.

(There are four elder. One is posted at each town.)

The two races of the valley would be split from each other.
The animas would move to the north and west side of the valley and the humans to the south and east side. The elders hoped by splitting them from each other would smolder the anger of the people of the valley. The only time the races were allowed to meet was to do trades at the center of the valley where a marketplace was built.

The elder's plan did not work.

Years passed and the anger of the people turned to hate. The animas and humans could not stand one another. Some animas and humans tried to stay friends, but they were looked down upon and spat at for doing so. The valley that once was full of happiness and peace was now a valley of hate.

Fourteen years had passed since the incident and it showed no signs that the void between the races would ever fade away.

Would the hatred in the valley ever go away?

Who knows?
Fate is never a predicable thing.
